  • #ane

Do yous feel like it is expected that women vesture makeup during their rotations? Some services more than than others? Inpatient vs. outpatient? Just trying to get a sense of different expectations at different places. Cheers.

I really can just speak from personal experience hither, but I don't habiliment makeup "in life" and I don't on the wards either. If you're the kind of person who wears makeup ...Every bit a general guideline, less makeup on the wards, more in clinics, just never "going out tonight" makeup.

Do y'all feel similar it is expected that women wear makeup during their rotations? Some services more than others? Inpatient vs. outpatient? Only trying to get a sense of different expectations at different places. Cheers.

My sense is that there is more of a problem with wearing TOO much makeup (a la "society glitter eyeshadow" etc) than not wearing any at all. But in full general I've really seen little of either be a problem, or an "expectation".

Wear what makes you comfy, and looks appropriate. As long as you are clean and your pilus is brushed I doubt anyone will make much notice of your makeup or lack thereof.

I almost never wear makeup on rotations and I don't think it matters at all...I have done well, been taken seriously, and been complimented on my consistently professional advent, even without makeup. I remember the choice about wearing makeup is near what makes you experience most comfortable. Don't sweat it.

I dearest makeup. I was the only med-student mail-call to wash upwardly, apply perfume, wash my confront, and reapply makeup in add-on to brushing my teeth. Just don't experience natural without information technology. Had to get up earlier, but I'm certain information technology contributed to my "wow, look at all her free energy" comments

To mules05    Groovy mail service to the hater. Most people who think of makeup that manner have no idea how it is supposed to be used. Very footling should be detectable. And I chose to great my patients at am rounds with confidence and energy, and for that I need to breast-stroke and freshen up. It is just that simple.

lol  do u e'er experience whatever antagonism from other female residents who are looking all haggardly?

Nope.

Tinted moisturizer, undereye concealer (of course), translucent pulverization, eyeliner, mascara.

No eyeshadow/blush/lipstick.

Some of the residents on my rotations go full-out with greens and blues for their eyeshadow and pinks/berries for their lips, only that's usually on clinic days. Some of the other residents barely brush their hair.

To each her own.

I don't like wearing makeup. Except when I become out and every once in a while if I am wearing my contacts and I'm in clinic clothes. I have oily skin and when I put on makeup, information technology doesn't help. In fact it's worse, considering information technology gets more shiny, and I accept this bad habit of rubbing and picking at my face up that I become it all on my easily then on paper, and I've even got it on my white glaze. I hate that. But I've let myself get since I second year of medschool. I used to retrieve that I was kinda pretty but now, I think I'yard "butterface". My face up has been breaking out more than usual and I experience makeup but aggravates the situation. I have a great body, but my face these days, EH!!!! I only don't intendance anymore. It sucks that med school is doing this to me, simply I've go cynical and very non-chalant nigh my appearance. On the rare occasion that I practice become out and wearing apparel up with makeup, I am pleasantly suprised at my appearance.

More than props to all those who take the fourth dimension to put on a pretty confront. I know it helps with the cocky confidence, but I Merely don't care anymore. And I doubt this volition modify in residency. Especially since my task will require me to article of clothing scrubs daily. Give thanks God.

I but wearable makeup on the wards whenever I want to feel pretty. For instance, if I had a particularly rough day in my inpatient rotation on Tuesday, I'll bear witness up on Wed wearing some makeup.

Although terminal time I did that my attending sent me home. Evidently some patients are freaked out by guys wearing makeup. Become figure.
